Howdy!

My name is Rebecka Peterson, and I love teaching math.

Being a teacher is all I ever remember wanting to be. I was so enamored with school, even as a child, that all I wanted to do when I got home was “play school,” and reenact the day with my little sister, who–much to her dismay–never got to play the part of the teacher.

In addition to teaching, another longtime passion of mine has been math. I finished a BS in mathematics in 2009, and an MA in math in 2011. Along the way, I picked up an incredible husband, who supports me to no end and gets excited about the things that excite me. He’s a keeper, for sure.

Upon graduation in 2011, I accepted a job at a community college from which I took math classes as a high school student. To top it off, I was recruited to teach for a pilot dual enrollment program where college instructors go to the local high school campuses and bring the collegiate environment to the high schoolers.

Of course, I’m very passionate about this program, being a former concurrent student myself. I truly love my job. I love learning more about math and about the teaching and learning of math every day. I love getting to know my students. Most of all, I love being excited about what I do.
